Have you ever watched the old Rocky and Bullwinkle show? That’s kind of what came to mind when I was naming this message. Each time before they started their segment, they would have two different creative titles- so if I was going to name this one, I would call it either “Releasing your Spirit in Prayer” or “A Tale of 3 Veils”. 🙂
So, Spirit Life Training is all about aligning the three parts of your being so the Spirit of God and your recreated spirit in Christ can be released and be expressed in the earth. It is our connection between our current existence on earth and where we are eternally seated in heavenly places in Christ. Our spirit’s access and release into the earth is how ‘His Kingdom comes, His Will is done on earth, as it is in Heaven.’ In our spirit, we have all the resources we need for victory here on earth. This is the precious promised land we can partake of (as spoken of in 2 Peter 1:4). This HAS been given to us. We just need to know how to use it!
So we know that God is not limiting us. He has given us Himself- His Spirit- within our hearts. He has given us all green lights to do His Will and see it come to pass on earth! So awesome… But yet, practically, there does seem to be resistance in our experience of this reality. Why is that?
I have termed this phenomena ‘veils’. Veils in the old testament were used to cover, and block people’s experience. Moses had to put a veil over his face when he came down from Mount Sinai because the people were afraid of the glory of God that was shining through Moses’ face. The Holy of Holies in the temple had a huge veil that prevented others in the inner court from seeing the glory and Presence of God over the Ark of the covenant. But when Jesus died and said “It is Finished!” this veil was ripped in two from top to bottom. God’s intention was that there should be NO MORE VEILS between Him and His people. But unfortunately there still can be man-made (or devil-made) veils that people permit that limit our experience in Him. This is talked about in 2 Corinthians 3:7-18, and 2 Corinthians 4:3-4.
From my experience in moving in and with the Spirit of God, and watching others in their progression and work in the Spirit- I have identified 3 general veils that people deal with, and they very much align with what I teach and train concerning Spirit Life Training.
These veils are: 1) the Veil of the Flesh (body), 2) the Veil of the Mind, and 3) the Veil of the spirit realm.
The veil of the flesh concerns issues with one’s body- what they see, hear, feel- all kinds of body concerns that distract people and take priority over what God is saying, doing, and expressing within and without. The flesh actually becomes a veil that blurs and blocks one’s experience with God’s Presence. The veil of the mind brings up concerns, worries, wrong imaginations, distracting thought tangents- all which come from within the mind alone, not from the spirit/mind connection. These things insulate and disconnect one from their experience with the Presence and work of God within and without. Truly- this issue happens A LOT. And if people are not careful- if a person cannot discern they are actually dealing with this veil and they are ‘trying to be spiritual’, they will unfortunately translate their own thought loops from within as ‘God speaking to them.’ This is so not cool- and can lead to even more limitation, bondage and an even stronger veil blocking them from their experience with God. Lastly, the veil of the spirit realm. This veil is NOT the Holy Spirit, or your recreated spirit, but a realm of spiritual resistance that realizes that you are dangerous and need to be shut down. At this point, the enemy realizes that you are not limited by the flesh or the mind distractions, so he will put spiritual pressure on you so you will not go any further. It can be really oppressive, and shocking at times. But once again, it is all based on a lie, and trying to get you to BELIEVE that lie that this is ‘normal’ and it comes from God so you should just accept this fake feeling ceiling and/or just back away from this life in the Spirit.
When someone is seeking to experience the tangible presence of God, or receive from God, or work in the spirit, there are symptoms that appear that one can identify which veil a person is encountering. As you listen to this message, I believe you will think back on past experiences and the light bulb will click on- “Ohhhh- now I understand what was going on then… this makes sense!” And there are simple clear ways to push past any of these veils quickly and efficiently (hopefully) so you can really get out there and start working and moving in the Spirit of God as you were meant to.
Listen- these veils try to get upon us every day. It is the residue of the nature of the world we live in. If we cannot identify what we are dealing with, we will unfortunately make many errors in our Spirit Life! We will misread our situation, we will be in confusion about what God is really doing, we will be ignorance of what other people need to do to get their breakthrough in life, AND- most importantly, we could wrongly redefine the nature and purpose of God because of our lack of sight -all because of these veils. wow. I have seen it way too much.
For this reason, this message is so important for believers. In particular- this message is indispensable for praise and worship teams, prayer groups, and any person in a spiritual leadership role. Personally, I believe that if you are in a spiritual leadership role, your main goal is to facilitate believers to interact with God personally. If you can see the veils they are dealing with, you can give them more accurate steps for where they are, so God and His Presence can fully touch and direct their heart where no human could ever effectively reach. When there are no veils, we are readily transformed into His image- from Glory to Glory.
